Bring the Ninja

Bring the Ninja a limited print run
With a print-run of just 50 copies, I had the pleasure of recently reading Marc Jackson’s latest comic, Bring the Ninja.
Recommended for readers aged twelve and up. Bring the Ninja depicts the quirky fun of a Cartoon Network program but is told in the serialized nature of a newspaper comic strip. This first book features the debut of all-action adventurers Chuck Chang, a highly skilled ninja and man of true mystery. Alongside Floyd Fighter, an amateur sidekick superhero with a disapproving wife and John, a robot called upon only in an emergency (for which I can guess there will be many!) In this fast-paced tale, the trio encounter unlikely villains including government agents, ex-wives, and crime lords with unexpected cameos by superstars Adam West and Burt Ward.
Although this comic is short but sweet. It is a true testament to the quality of creative projects that have had time to develop during the lockdown. When the pandemic is over, I look forward to the book gracing MACC-POW. Marc Jackson’s very own annual comic art festival, alongside his other titles such as the popular Magnum P.I. book.
As I read and re-read Bring the Ninja, the one thing that stood out to me the most was the high praise given to the book by Bill Sienkiewicz. Yes, Bill’s words were kind. But I also loved Marc’s reaction to the review, stating at the beginning of the book that “he is not worthy”. As an independent comic creator myself, that hit me in the feels. I fully appreciate the time and support of industry professionals. And how much it means when hard work is acknowledged. This created a really sweet moment that lasted from the front cover right to the back cover.
