Haulin’ Comic Books
So I had no idea what to write about today, I’m still playing Spider-Man (I finished the game last week with tears all down my face, now I’m just trying to get platinum)
I haven’t read a comic in a little while. I think it’s because I have to be in the mood to read them, books, however, I can typically read whenever wherever (cue Shakira)
Library’s are generally bursting with comics!
So I thought I’d talk about which ones I’ve been picking up recently – starting with the library.
Comics are expensive so in my pursuit of becoming a comic book reader, my local libraries have become my go-to place. The main one in the town centre has this pretty impressive display of Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image and a few others so I’m pretty spoilt for choice!
Amazing Spider-Man, Vol. 1: The Parker Luck – Collects Amazing Spider-Man (2014) #1-6.
Dan Slott , Humberto Ramos- Marvel Comics
The greatest superhero of all time returns!
The world may have changed since Spidey’s been gone, but so has Peter Parker. This is a man with a second chance at life, and he’s not wasting a moment of it.
But his old foes are back as well – re-energized, out of control and madder than ever!
Brian K. Vaughan, Fiona Staples- Image Comics
When two soldiers from opposite sides of a never-ending galactic war fall in love, they risk everything to bring a fragile new life into a dangerous old universe.
Thanks to her star-crossed parents Marko and Alana, newborn baby Hazel has already survived lethal assassins, rampaging armies, and alien monstrosities, but in the cold vastness of outer space, the little girl encounters something truly frightening: her grandparents!
I’ve been wanting to read Saga for so long I can’t wait to get stuck in, and let’s be honest when it comes to me the Spider-Man comic is pretty self-explanatory!
Charity Shops are amazing for games and comics!
Now the next one, I picked up from the charity shop I volunteer at and every time I’m in I find myself browsing through what we’ve got.
Again like the library, we’ve got a pretty wide range we’ve obviously got Marvel and DC and Image but we’ve also got a load of 2000 AD comics and prices start from 99p!
Can you blame me for always checking what’s there?
Spider-Man: The Coming of the Scorpion! (Marvel Age Spider-Man #19)
Mike Raicht- Marvel Comics
Presenting the story of how Spider-Man meets his newest rival, the Scorpion.
With this one, I kinda went back to my old ways and picked it for the cover and the superhero, I just couldn’t leave him there! What if someone else bought him? Let’s just completely ignore that it’s issue 19!
Friends who swap comics are true friends!
Last up is some comics my friend gave me! We’ve known each other years and we now live in the same city so that meant I was able to get the comics she’d picked up for me on free comic book day!
Marvel Rising (2018)
Devin Grayson, Marco Failla,Helen Chen- Marvel Comics
When Doreen Green (also known as the unbeatable Squirrel Girl) volunteers as head counsellor for an extra-curricular computer programming camp, little does she know that junior counsellor Kamala Khan moonlights as the crime-fighting superhero, Ms. Marvel! But this coding camp is more than just ones and zeros when A.I.M. makes an appearance!
DC Super Hero Girls: Date with Disaster (DC Super Hero Girls Graphic Novels #6)
by Shea Fontana- DC Comics
Catwoman is out alone on the prowl one night when KABOOM–an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs rouses the other girls from their slumber. Star students Batgirl and Lois Lane both know the lab incident is fishy, and they meet later to share clues. But nothing could’ve prepared Batgirl for what they see next–Batgirl’s dad on a date!
Ms. Marvel (2015-) #12
G. Willow Wilson, Mirka Andolfo Cameron Stewart- Marvel
Ms. Marvel goes global! After the events of Civil War, Kamala goes on a much-needed road trip. But will she be an international sensation or menace?
I’m ridiculously excited for the Marvel Rising show so I can’t wait to give this a read! My sister absolutely adores DC Superhero Girls so shoutout to my friend for picking Date With Disaster she loves it! At some point, I’ll be finally be reading Ms Marvel from the start so again let’s ignore that I’ve got issue 12!
Let us know which comics you’ve been picking up lately!
